APPLICABILITY FOR THE FREE CDL PRACTICE TESTS

The Free CDL Practice Tests developed by CDL Digest are good for all 50 States. CDL Digest uses the same federally mandated sources and methods in the development of our practice test questions and answers that all 50 States are required to use.

SOURCES FOR THE PRACTICE TEST QUESTIONS

Federal Regulations (49 CFR 383.131(a)(1)) mandates that all 50 States are required to use to use the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ (AAMVA’s) “2005 CDL Test System (July 2010 or newer Version) Model Commercial Driver Manual” to develop the pool of questions for all written tests needed for a person to obtain a commercial learner’s permit (CLP), commercial driver’s license (CDL), and/or any federally authorized endorsements.

TEST METHODS FOR THE PRACTICE TEST QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

The Federal Regulations (49 CFR 383.133) establishes the test methods that all 50 States are required to use in generating CDL knowledge tests. These test methods include the number of questions for each knowledge test, difficulty level of the questions, and administration of the tests, such as written form, verbally, or computer generated.

Federal Regulations (49 CFR 383.135(a)(1)) establishes that all 50 States must require each driver applicant to correctly answer at least 80% of the questions correctly to achieve a passing score on each of the knowledge tests.
